Idle Sleep is one of the top bed frame and mattress companies with a small army of very happy customers. I decided to take a look to see what all the talk is about starting with their basic foundation base. It takes a surprising amount of time to do a review like this, and I am still waiting to receive even more information and will update this page then.
Idle bed frame review good points include only a few negative reviews, incredible 60 days financing at zero percent with several options, strong wood rails and corner brackets, optional legs to adjust the height off the floor. The bad includes all product reviews together, no returns or exchanges.
Because all the product reviews for each product are lumped together I sorted them all out in a file so hopefully, I won’t spend a lot of my time on any future Idle product reviews.
Table 1. The Good, Bad, and Ugly Summary
|The Good||The Bad||The Ugly|
|Only 2% negative reviews for all products.||The company does not separate reviews per product. So I wasted a day copy and pasting and sorting. And another day interpreting them. Arhhhhh.||No response to 3 poor reviews on their website.|
|Strong and sturdy design||No returns for non mattress products|
|Strong wood frame rails with metal corner brackets|
|Free shipping to Continental US|
|Optional legs to raise the bed frame if buyer is not using a box spring|
|Interest free financing for 60 months with several options available|
Idle Bed Frame Reviews
I spent WAY too much time going through the 142 reviews on their website. Why did it take so long? Because they do not sort the reviews by product!!! Arrrrrhhhhhh. So I copied as pasted every single review into a document and separated the reviews by bed frame, mattress, and company when possible.
Some reviewers did not state which product they purchased, but I figured out the majority of them. This was not a total waste of time as I will likely review more of their products based on the positive reviews I have sifted through.
If you are doing research for a new mattress you need to see which ones to cross off your list due to poor quality, too expensive, or inept company. See the reviews for IDLE Sleep Latex, IDLE Sleep Gel Foam, Awara, Avocado Green, Spindle, Aviya, Sleep On Latex, PlushBeds, Haven Boutique, and Haven Premier.
Idle Bed Frame Reviews on Their Website
Zero. Yup. I spent the better part of a day on this and did not find a single review for the frame on their website. I will find some for sure, I just have to dig deeper into the Internet to find them.
Idle Company Reviews on Their Website
I am including some information here since I spent SO much time on it. Basically about 96% of customers that commented on the company, the shipping, or the customer service and gave them a rating of 5 out of 5. Super. And often the company responded with thanks to the positive reviews.
However, there were three customers that had issues and there was ZERO response from the company to the review.
I am always suspicious of 1 start reviews because I have seen and experienced the competition leaving bogus reviews and paid professional reviewers to leave both good and bad reviews.
So keep in mind that three negative reviews out of 142 is pretty awesome really.
Well, two of the three bad reviews certainly seem legit, but why a company would waste time saying “thanks” to good reviews while ignoring three crap reviews is beyond my comprehension.
It only takes a couple of minutes to respond and say they will check on it and help resolve the issue. Done. Easy peasy.
All companies have bad reviews and 2% like this company has is incredibly low.
Is the Idle Bed Frame Sturdy
The frame is sturdy with strong wood frame rails that are attached at the corners with heavy-duty metal brackets. It is especially sturdy when it is installed directly on the floor as the weight of the frame, mattress, and sleepers are evenly distributed over 18 – 26 linear feet depending on the size of your bed frame.
It is still strong and sturdy when the optional legs are installed, but physics makes it somewhat less sturdy. But unless you and your partner are 6’+ and head to toe muscles and wrestle like WWE every night you should be able to enjoy this for many years or decades.
Is the Idle Bed Frame Height Adjustable
The Idle bed frame is only adjustable with the addition of the optional wood legs which are available for $29 and it raises it 7”. This is a good option if you are not planning to use a box spring.
With the frame installed on the floor without legs and only a mattress is about 17 – 21” off the floor depending on the thickness of your mattress.
- Upholstery: There are two colors of upholstery to choose from for the material that wraps over the wood.
- Joints: The joints are held together with metal angle brackets fastened to the wood frame. A screwdriver is required to fasten a few screws together during installation.
- Installation: The company claims 5 – 10 minutes to assemble and this seems like a reasonable time frame for anyone with an IQ large than their shoe size.
- Legs: If you purchase the optional legs because you are not using a box spring these are easily added by screwing them into the corners of the bed frame.
Table 2. Dimensions
Foundation legs are optional and cost an additional $29.
There are a couple of financing options available and all include 60 months with 0% interest. The monthly payments are included in Table 2 above. Financing options include:
- SafiFi Monthly Payments through the Synchrony HOME Credit Car and they offer 60 months interest-free with an instant decision at check out on their website. Why would a credit card company offer 60 months interest-free you may ask?
Well, I am not sure if they receive payment from Idle Sleep for providing free financing, but I can tell you this for sure the credit card company is hoping that you do not pay the item off in time or miss a payment so the 29.99% interest rate kicks in (and kicks you in the teeth)
TIP: DO NOT MISS A PAYMENT!
There is a bonus of 2% “cash back”, which shows up as a credit on your statement one or two billing cycles after the purchase. The Small Print states that this is only on purchases UNDER $299.
I have emailed a representative of Idle Sleep to see if this means that if you purchase a product that costs $300+ you are SOL or if you get 2% cashback on the $299. Even if you get the 2% back that is only $5.98 so don’t get too excited.
If you are not approved you will likely have other offers from different lenders such as:
- Katapult offers lease-to-own financing to buyers from 46 states. If you are living in Minnesota, Wyoming, Wisconsin, or the garden state of New Jersey you are SOL (S*** Otta Luck).
I have used lease-to-own several times in the past and how it works is that the leasing company buys the bed frame or mattress from the company (Idle Sleep in this case) and the leasing company signs an agreement with you where you make monthly payments to them.
Once the payments are complete the leasing company transfers the ownership to you.
Wow, that is the most content I have written about financing options in a review.
